New Home for the Chickens
Well, it's been a very busy day. Kyle and I designed and built a bigger cage for all of the chickens. This should help by giving them more room and getting them out of our basement!

We started the morning off with some spare lumber and really no set plan, so we started drawing out what we wanted to do.

We used deck screws for the entire project so that we can disassemble it in the future to re-use the material.

Here is the roof set on top. This sheet of plywood will get screwed onto the top.

We've now moved it to a spot near the house so we can keep an eye on the chickens and run a lamp out to it. We stapled the chicken wire to the frame.

Kyle retrieved the hinges from the old shooting house on the property that he and his cousin, Mark, tore down. Here I am installing the hinges.

Our project is finally complete! They now have lots of room to spread out. It's also easy to clean and relatively easy to move.

Jay, the new home for your chickens looks great! It is amazing what you have done with left overs from deer stand and the building of your house. The boys must be having the time of their lives in all those projects. If not, it is certainly good for them to be involved with everything you find and are doing. You couldn't ask for a better well rounded education. Love Ya, Mom
