In a Chopping Mood
On Mother's Day and I was very down, blue and depressed for reasons having nothing to do with the occasion. Actually, I couldn't quite pinpoint why I was so moody, preoccupied, edgy and troubled so I chalked it up to hormotions (a term coined by Carmon -- or was it Samantha?). Honestly, I was kind of a mess so I decided to call it a day and head to bed at 8:00pm.
I never go to bed at 8:00pm. You couldn't pay me to go to bed at 8:00pm.
The next morning I woke up, determined to have a different day than the one I had before. Raring to go I looked in the mirror and said to myself, This sad, tired hair style simply must go. I've had it forever and it's time for something new. Do it.
About four minutes and a dozen blunt cuts later, voila!
It was the haircut I've imagined for some time but was nervous it would be too hard to maintain. (I hate to spend any more time in the bathroom in the morning than necessary.)
During the next couple of days I did make three or four more small clips to even things out and I needed Jay to trim an inch or so off the back, where I couldn't reach.
Overall I was pleased but I confess I was nervous about walking into church with my new do. I decided to hold my head high and wear my self-styled bad haircut with dignity. Once past the initial embarrassment of having to explain I did it myself in a huff I knew everybody would still love me. :) Turns out, they sounded awfully convincing that they really liked it and I was able to relax a bit.
Here's a Before picture, taken about a month ago.

Here's an After picture of me the morning of my hormonal hack job.

Here's an After-After picture with an inch or two more taken off the back.

I am not a short hair person and will probably have shoulder-length hair 'til my dying days, so I don't plan on cutting off any more any time soon!

Hi Ruthanne, have missed you and wondered how everything was going! I like the last picture a lot!! I think it looks great! (Of course I can't see the back.) :)
But...the one thing that stood out immediately is your thin face!! Wow! You've lost weight since the baby! Congrats! (I've also read the following posts and your news...CONGRATS!!!)

Thank you for all the kind comments, Misty, Deb, Jen and Dana. :)
I wouldn't be surprised if I allow my hair to grow back again the way it was, but it has been nice to do something different for a change!

Wowsie!! What a change!
I hope you're still enjoying it. I'm in a long-hair phase (I've done shoulder-length for years), and am really enjoying it. I think I might go for a bit of light color in mine, though soon...it's time for some change.
:-)
